Destination Africa
Category MinistrySorry, I forgot to move this from "draft" to "published" -grr.
My very dear friend Tony Elliott left for Africa today.
The Staubach Retail Phoenix office is sending a team to Zambia, Africa on April 18th. They are partnering with the Northrise University Initiative to help impact the lives of Zambians by providing medical supplies for the children's hospital and the orphanages, expanding the university, building the new university farm, and helping provide village schools with books and supplies.
Africa has been hit hard with the AIDS epidemic:
- AIDS killed 2.2 million Africans last year alone
- 25 million Africans are currently living with HIV/AIDS
- 9 million children have been orphaned as a result of AIDS

Northrise University is a non-profit, Christian university that was founded to educate Zambians and equip the future leaders of the country. A working farm is being built to serve as a classroom, as well as provide a source of food for the students and teachers. A tractor was recently purchased with donations from supporters.
Dave Cheatham, Darren Pitts, Daniel Ortega Tony Elliott, John Michaels and several others leave for Zambia April 18th and will return on April 26th. School supplies will be purchased to take with the group.

Thanks for the post. We did, in deed, deliver school supplies to a "basic" school in a compound know as Mackenzie Township. We also delivered a few boxes of syringes and level-two antibiotics to the Children's Hospital in Ndola. It was very eye-opening to see those medical supplie put into use immediately. There is NO surplus of supplies there. We saw the boxes of syringes opened up with total fervor and put directly to use before we made it to the first wing of sick children.
I'm working on my digital photos and I'll soon have a link where you'll be able to see life in Zambia as I saw it through the lens of my digital SLR.
Again, thank you Devin for your support. Hopefully, I'll see you soon.
